This is a simplified form of painting, one stroke plus shading. It's easy because... one, perfection is not required, two, no previous experience with a brush is necessary and three, you don't have to know how to draw a straight line.

This method of decorating should not be confused with the difficult, complicated and time consuming method of doing true "Tole Painting." The effect is much the same, but the method shown is very simplified. The objective of this book is to instruct you on the basic strokes and through practice you will discover their simplicity.
