We have assumed that the person working with decoupage has learned to color prints with oil pencils and cut them with decoupage scissors. She has learned the techniques of finishing wood, sanding, staining, painting, sealing and other ways to create beautiful finishes. There are many books available which cover basic decoupage procedures. Two books we can recommend are "Decoupage Start to Finish" and "The Art of Decoupage". These books given instructions on preparing prints, finishing surfaces and a gallery of ideas that use the more basic decoupage techniques.

This book will appeal to the craftsman who has been doing traditional decoupage and who now is ready for more elaborate displays. We have refrained from repeating materials already in other books to give maximum space for advanced techniques of mounting decoupage for the illusion of depth. The French call thes techniques "Vue D' Optique".
