King's Kountry

King’s Kountry was founded
by Curtis King and his wife Dawn in 1977 when the craft of macramé was at its
peak. They manufactured their own brand of premium macramé cord, Braided
Elegance, from their Michigan-based factory. Curt managed operations, which
included a retail store and mail-order business that offered supplies for macramé.
Dawn provided a creative side to the business, developing numerous macramé
patterns and teaching the art through evening classes, while also raising their
four children, who have taken on various roles in the company throughout its
history.
Originally located on
Kelly Rd in what is now East Pointe, MI, we then moved to Utica on Van Dyke in
1981. That same year, our first franchise was opened on Middlebelt in Livonia.
In 1986, we moved back to East Pointe on Stephens, and 10 years later we settled
in Yale, MI. In the late 1990’s, we launched our first website and the
company now operates exclusively online. After 37 years of managing King’s
Kountry, Curtis handed over the torch in 2014 to his daughter Amber, who manages
the business from a new location in Largo, Florida. King’s Kountry continues to
offer macramé products, as well as a variety of other craft supplies, with an
emphasis on vintage products.
